If I were to describe Vancouver’s style in one word, I would say EXOTIC. Everyone has their own style here, which makes them unique in their own way. These personalities and identities end up becoming exotic because of the diversity shown, even in the clothing. When I go out to the streets of New Westminster, I see people who are genuinely happy in their style and don’t care about other’s opinions. I believe that everyone should be entitled to dress however they like and make the most of it. Once again, the Vancouver crowd didn’t fail to surprise me with their unique styles. Let’s take a look at these unique styles found on the street of Quayside Dr, New Westminster.

Darien in Quayside, New Westminster Vancouver, British ColumbiaHigh school students have some of the most different styles ever. This fresh out of high school student, Darien, explains his style: “‘As a dancer, I pride myself with my ability to dress appropriately for any given circumstance and being able to do so, has given me a certain style, a casual yet fancy style. As I go throughout my days I often like to dress-to-impress, since it’s a small world and you never know who you’re going to meet or see again’”. Now let’s dabble a little as to where this future P.E/History teacher buys his clothes from. These cool black cargo joggers are made by Urban Heritage and can be purchased at Urban Planet for only $34.99! Sometimes simple things are the best, just like this simple white t-shirt from Divided, which can also be purchased at Urban Planet for $9.99. Decked with Denim, Darien is rocking a DNKY Jeans blue button-up shirt, purchased from the bay for just $14.99. To complete his look, Darien chooses his favourite white converse from Converse All Stars, which can be found at Journeys for $85.

Vancity Chic in New Westminster - Golden Hour on hair Jasmeet is a 21 year old who wants to focus her career in HR Management. She’s outgoing, bubbly and never fails to crack a smile on your face. On an average day, you can find Jasmeet at school, working, hanging out with her closest friends or giving cuddles to her dog, Dana. “‘I’m a stylish storm in a teacup’” says Jasmeet as she is only 5 ft tall. This beauty is wearing a snazzy peachy top from Glo Boutique which she got for $15. Those silky black chiffon pants are only $34 and are also from Glo Boutique. Sounds like an amazing place to get stylish and trendy clothing! These colourful heels are the definition of ‘Chic’! You can get your own funky pair of heels at La Chateau for only $69.99.

Ketti Quayside, New Westminster, Vancouver British ColumbiaWhen people discuss animals, Ketki is always there to liven up the party with fun facts and cute animal talk. This fellow dog lover is only 22 and is in the 2nd year of her Ecological Restoration program. “‘I believe in staying classy and elegant and let yourself stand out with your simplicity. I think that inner beauty of a person maters more than the outer appearances. The substance of your personality makes you, YOU. So, stay simple, have faith, love nature and stay beautiful.’” Ketki is sporting plum shaded George jeggings, which she got from Walmart for only $15. Her adorable black top comes from Old Navy, priced at $25. If you love the heels she’s wearing, just like me, be sure to check out Ardene for these $20 beauties. While you’re at Ardene, might at was take a look at the dream-catcher pendant she got for only $15!

Samantha in New westminster, Vancouver, BCSamantha was born and brought up in China. This 27 year old moved here when she was in grade 11. Fashion in Abbottsford British Columbia

Fashion on Montrose Ave. in Abbotsford, British Columbia

by Georgia, Miss Teen Fraser Valley 2017

Living in the Fraser Valley you get to see a lot of different fashion styles, especially in the summer. This year’s summer has been quite hot with some days being close to 40 degrees Celsius. Thus staying cool is a big priority when picking out an outfit. I personally take fashion inspiration from all over the world and through many eras, though I have to say that the 60s are favourite. What I love about the street I chose, is that as you walk down it you will see so many different and unique styles that all look good. Montrose avenue in Abbotsford, BC is located at the heart of its historic downtown. Both sides of the street are full of bakeries, vintage shops, boutiques, music shops and so much more.

Veronica white cotton blouse on door step beside old bicycle

Veronica is a University student with a great sense of style. She is currently studying science at SFU but has decided to change her studies to become a fashion designer. Come next year Veronica is traveling to Asia and hopes that while she is there she will find lots of inspiration to help her in the future. Veronica is wearing an upcycled white vintage top, a mauve high waisted pleated skirt that she custom made and white Adidas runners for $75. She has paired this outfit with a super cute light pink purse from Michael Kors for $198. Veronica is pictured outside Invana TeaHouse on Montrose ave. in Abbotsford. I chose this location because of the vintage and rustic feel the business gives off.  This outfit is super cute and casual, which is perfect for the hot weather in the Fraser Valley. In this ensemble you can go for brunch or a walk in the park;  her skirt and shirt combo really has no limits.

Fashion styles in Frasier Valley British ColumbiaCamillie is a university student and loves to express herself through her fashion. Camillie and her two sisters run a fashion instagram (@fashionandfetch ) where they show off their different styles to the world. They hope to inspire others to do the same. Her influence comes from all over the world and she is always looking for the perfect items to add to her closet! The orange shorts and white shoes that Camillie is wearing come from different shops along the beach in Chile This helps to make her style even more unique. The red bodysuit is from Urban Behavior and the black belt is thrifted. I chose to go with an off-white wall in one of the alleys along the street because I really wanted the bright colours of this summer outfit to pop! I love how Camillie has pulled the red together by adding the sunglasses and having the small red detailing on the shoes. Doing this really helps to make a complete look that’s ready for the beach or a local festival.

Red Camille with big red bag in Abbottsford British ColumbiaLastly we have Camillie, again, showing us a different side of her fashion personality. This more dressy look is perfect for a summer date or afternoon tea in the garden. The flowers in the background add a fresh feel to the street and really help to the the dress stand out. Camillie loves to have statement pieces which is why this Red Madison Tote from Shop J&G for $56 is perfect for her. The dress she is wearing from Zara. She may love a statement piece but she knows when enough is enough, which is why she has paired this outfit with a set of nude platform heels. The heels and purse together give Camillie the perfect amount of statement.

Fraser Valley’s fashion is truly complex, and I haven’t even started to show you half of it. If you want to get the full feel come down to Montrose avenue in Abbotsford, grab a cup of coffee and a pastry from one of our local shops, and see for yourself just how diverse our summer fashion is!

Be Your Own Kind Of Beautiful in Lethbridge Alberta

By Sarah, Miss Teenage Cardston County 2017

What is beauty? Beauty is not something that you have, or you don’t have. Each one of us has unique beauty within us. I simply couldn’t decide on just one outfit, as beauty is not just one look. So I picked three outfits, that displays: Comfort, Elegance, and Confidence. All three are important aspects to being your own kind of beautiful.

Comfort.
Comfort is key. Often girls believe that to be beautiful they must be uncomfortable, this is false. Beauty comes from within, and that is why it is so incredibly important that you wear clothes that make you feel comfortable.

Elegance.
As Audrey Hepburn once said, “Elegance is the only beauty, that never fades.” I absolutely love this quote. Elegance is beautiful. I feel that more often than not, elegance is classified as “old” or maybe “mature” which yes, it can. However elegance is for all ages. Whether you are 14 or 80, elegance is beautiful on everyone. I personally love simple outfits, as it draws more attention to the person who is wearing it, not the other way around. We all know the saying, “Pretty in Pink” well this dress is a perfect example. The way the skirt flows makes elegance and style tie together, making a beautiful outfit. Let’s not forget about the necklace now. I personally love this necklace, it’s so classy and versatile. It can be worn with so many different outfits! Overall I think this necklace is the perfect way to complete the look of elegance.Miss Teen Cardston Co freind cheerleader

Confidence
What is more beautiful than seeing a girl who is confident?! I personally think the most admirable trait of a girl, is when she is confident in who she is and what she looks like. A question we all have been asked by either a friend, a family member, or even a stranger is, “How do I look?” I’m not going to sit here and pretend I don’t ask others this same question, but my question is… Why do we seem to always ask this question again and again? In today’s society we are taught that our self worth is determined on how others view us. This needs to change! But how? First, you need to realize that no matter how much someone will compliment you, the only person who can make you feel confident is you. It is essential that you are doing it for yourself, no one else. This outfit is so unique and different, in displaying true confidence through its pattern and style. It is important that the outfit you wear makes you feel confident, don’t wear it for someone else, wear it for yourself. As I said before, wear something you want to wear, because in the end you are the only one who can truly make yourself feel confident.

Genavieve evening promenade fashion in Winnipeg Manitoba

Beauty and Fashion on Bannatyne Street in Winnipeg

By Genavieve, Miss Teen Manitoba 2017

It was such an honour to be crowned Miss Teenage Manitoba 2017. Holding this title involves participating in charity events, fundraisers, galas, and especially getting to know and getting involved with the people of Manitoba. One of the topics I wanted to find out more about was Manitoba’s fashion sense, so I chose to investigate Bannatyne street in the Exchange District in Winnipeg, Manitoba where there are frequent theater performances, parties, art galas and much more take place. I chose this street because there is lots of diversity, culture and acceptance in the Exchange District and Bannatyne street is right in the heart of it all. You can wear just about anything in this area of Winnipeg from laid back and comfortable to very classy and uptight, and it all just adds to it’s colourful and unique character. There is always something to do and things to see in the Exchange District. So, of course, I just had to pay the area a visit on a warm Friday evening and see what styles people were wearing.

I selected four individuals who really stuck out to me. They stuck out of course because they were wearing very unique outfits, but they also had a very confident air about them and big smiles on their faces. I really appreciated this because they obviously felt beautiful and if you feel beautiful on the inside, you look beautiful on the outside. I was very interested in what these lovely ladies had to say about their sense of style.

Meet Erika

Street Chic in Manitoba

The first beautiful lady I got to meet was Erika. Erika is a thriving and passionate business owner who owns the Magic Room in downtown Winnipeg. The Magic Room is a nail salon, a spa and a cosmetic store all in one building. It is also the original Magic Room and was the first store in Winnipeg to do facials, waxing, and nail care. Erika got her Masters of Business Administration in fashion in Paris. Erika was wearing a beautiful white sheer bodysuit underneath a pleated front zip grey skirt with faux snake skin black block heel boots and black ankle socks. She bought all of her clothes about a year ago. Erika describes her style as classic and trendy.

Get Erika’s look:
White Body Suit from Holt Renfrew and designer Wolfard: $200
Grey Skirt from Club Monaco: $150

Her style is very colourful and she likes to mix and match different outfits, shoes and jewelry. Gorete was wearing a stunning white lacy dress, pink shoes with a rainbow heel and a matching pink handbag. She also wore a very nice stone necklace and earrings.

Get Gorete’s look:
White Dress from Urban Behaviour: $40
Pink and Rainbow High Heels from an unknown independent store in Grant Park Mall Winnipeg: $25

Meet Ira:
Ira looking orange in downtown WinnipegI was so amazed when I saw Ira at how she made a pair of old ripped jeans look so classy! Ira is a technical designer. She describes her style as “boho meets off duty rockstar.” She also loves to stand out, but likes to keep things more comfortable. Ira wore a loose and very light weight orange and white shirt that tied up at the front. She paired it with black ripped jeans and faux alligator skin and leather black shoes with bright orange socks. She also held a faux alligator skin purse. She bought all of her clothes in Montreal.

Get Ira’s look:

Kelly in sheer gown on Manitoba sidewalkI loved Kelly’s style so much I couldn’t help but ask her about it. Although Kelly’s outfit looks very classy and expensive, she actually created most of her outfit from hand-me-downs, so some of it is unknown. Kelly wore a beautiful sheer white dress that buttoned up and tied up at the front. She got this as a hand me down from her step mother. She is also wearing black sandals and carrying a black leather handbag. Kelly describes her style as preppy but feminine. Kelly’s look is perfect for any setting and any occasion.

Get Kelly’s look:
White Dress from Armony: $50
Black Sandals from Marshalls: $20

And lastly, Genavieve (me)!

My name is Genavieve. I am 17 years old and have been crowned Miss Teenage Manitoba 2017. I am going into Grade 12 at Glenlawn Collegiate in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I hope to go into forensic psychology and one day become an RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) officer. I want to make a difference in the world in everything I do, so I thought that this would be the best career for me. I am currently working at a spa in Winnipeg as a skin health sales associate and have also worked in different clothing stores because it is very important for me to ensure that people always feel their best and I want to empower people to feel confident in themselves and to embrace their individual unique qualities. I would describe my style as sometimes sporty and sometimes preppy.

I am wearing a burgundy tight fitted knit dress and rainbow high heeled shoes. Burgundy dress from Garage: $10
Rainbow Heels from Designer Shoe Warehouse: $60

Genavieve in Winnipeg Manitoba

I noticed that the style here seems to be big shoes and big purses! I want to make sure that people know that you absolutely don’t need to spend a fortune to look beautiful. As long as you feel confident and feel good in your own skin, that’s really all that matters. Love yourself for who you are and don’t let anyone tell you that you need to change the way you look or dress. You are beautiful. “The more you are like yourself, the less you are like anyone else which makes you unique” -Walt Disney

cute body suit in Stephenville Crossing Canada

Three Times Chic in Stephenville Crossing Newfoundland

by Madison: Miss Teen Western Newfoundland 2017
In my hometown of Stephenville Crossing, we have one busy street which is coincidentally called Main Street.  And by ‘busy’, I mean you may see one or two people walking around. Since it’s so small, I’d have to stay out there all day waiting for someone with a booming outfit to come along. So I chose instead to cover three of my own looks. I like to think I have my own style, one that comes as a mixture of my personality and what I enjoy in today’s fashion.

I’ve always experimented with my outfits since my mom started letting me play dress up in her closet. I’d smother my face with the brightest lipstick I could find, accessorize with a pair of cool sunglasses and a feather boa: then have my own little photo-shoot. With that being said, I put together two inexpensive outfits and one that’s more name brand. I do lots of shopping from inexpensive stores and thrift stores. Remember that you can look beautiful and expensive even when you’re on a budget!

sports fashion in Newfoundland Canadaa
My first outfit is one of my favourites. Instead of heading straight to borrow from my mom’s closet, I went for dad’s! I love oversized shirts because they are so vintage and cute to style. My dad grew up in my hometown, and kept this softball jersey from his old Stephenville Crossing team. I’ve ‘borrowed’ it from him because I love navy blue and button ups (win win)!

On my head I have a sweet headband that I got from shein.com for $6.44! They ship super quick, within in a week. and the prices are so good! About the boots; remember how I was talking about stealing from closets? No, they’re not from my dad’s closet as you might think, they are my mom’s.

Madison Fashion in NewfoundlandMy second outfit came mostly from one of my favourite stores, Fashion Nova, and a little bit from my Mom’s closet again. Those cute blue cowboy boots are my mom’s but I believe she got them from Byrnes’ Shoes & Sportswear. The gorgeous tie-up blue and white striped top can be found on the Fashion Nova website. It’s on sale for $12.61 until Monday, August 7th! On to the shorts; I LOVE these shorts, they are my absolute favourite. Fashion Nova has the nicest shorts and jeans. Everything fits just right universally (meaning they make your booty look cute no matter your size)!

cute body suit in Stephenville Crossing Canada
My third outfit holds the closest place in my heart because it strikes my personality to a T! My fashion style is effortless, like I’ve just rolled out of bed in a way. Either way, I am in love with my Juicy Couture track suit. I’ve been looking for one for ages and guys, these are crazy expensive, but when I went to Sears I got it 50% off!
Woohoo! Onto the furry slides… I love these so much, I have about 6 different colours. Pink is my favourite colour of course. You can pick up slides almost anywhere since they’re so in right now, but I got mine from Shein.com.  Slides are the best because they’re really comfy and they can go with anything. If you don’t believe me, just try it. It’ll make your outfits look casual, but casual as in a sleeping beauty kind of way.

Self-love is limitless. Dressing up in your cutest outfit just to lay around the house is not strange, it’s empowering. Give a girl the right pair of shoes and the perfect shade of lipstick, and she will take over the world. Take the time to figure yourself out. Find out what you like to wear. You’ll really learn to love yourself once you know yourself a little better. Experimentation is key.

Cambridge center mall on Hespelar Rd

Fashion at Cambridge Center Mall on Hespeler Rd

By Kaitlyn, Miss Teenage Waterloo Region 2017

On the Thursday before the August civic holiday weekend in Cambridge, Ontario, when all of our local-fashionistas are out preparing for upcoming endeavours, I took an opportunity to visit the Cambridge Center Mall on Hespeler road and get some inspiration. Along the way I happened to run into a beautiful girl named Chloe.

vneck tshirt from ReitmansChloe is 21 years old and loves to travel, in fact she moved to Canada 3 years ago from Wales.  She described herself as creative and shared with me her passion for drawing. So… what is she wearing!? Being a full time Pandora employee, her uniform requires her to wear black on black on black. Chloe is wearing a high fashion black twisted V-neck T-shirt from Urban Planet made from polyester and nylon which she purchased for $15. For pants she chose trendy black leggings from Reitmans made out of viscose and nylon for $45. Black Adidas flats, and 2 gorgeous Pandora bracelets and 3 rings all made from sterling silver, cubic zirconia, and pearl accents.

Next up in the Cambridge Center on Hespeler Road I stumbled upon a true beauty, Brianna. Brianna is the youngest out of 9 biological siblings, and also has 4 foster siblings! She just switched school’s at the age of 17, and currently works 4 jobs! Brianna is an equestrian, she loves to ride horses at Irish Creek Stables, and loves art and fitness. She was wearing a blue dress from Winners made out of cotton for $14, a cover up black jacket made from nylon and polyester also from Winners for $25. To tie the outfit together she wore a thick black belt made out of leather and elastic from Ardenes for $10. And on her feet, heels from Aldo for $80. I noticed this gorgeous ring on her finger as well, and it came out of a candle! Charmed aroma candles and bath bombs are gifts she receives often, and they definitely pay off. (And might I add, her makeup skills are incredible.)

Lastly, on my way home I bumped into Kimberly. Kimberly is 43 years old and in the pharmaceutical industry, she loves fitness, gardening and water sports at her cottage. When Kimberly has down time, she listens to audiobooks. In fact she just finished listening to 44 hours of Stephen King’s ‘It’ novel. Kimberly is wearing a Frank Lyman designer beaded white dress made out of lycra, nylon, and cotton which she purchased for $165. On her feet gorgeous sparkly heels from Aldo for $99 and on her wrist a FitBit Charge 2 for $169. This was taken on McFarlane Drive, in Cambridge Ontario.

My favourite part about seeking out the greatest fashions in my region was getting to meet new people. All of the girls were so lovely and helpful to me, I definitely made new friends today! This experience has taught me that you don’t have to be wearing Gucci or Kate Spade to be considered chic. If Brianna hadn’t told me her belt was from Ardenes, I would never have known. The moral of the story here is that you can be extremely fashionable and not break the bank. It’s all about knowing where to look. I hope this article changes your perspective about brands. Thank you so much to everyone who participated in the creation of this article, you’re all beautiful, and are definitely worthy of the title “Street Chic”.

A Good Heart Never Goes Out of Style in Truro Nova Scotia

by Zoe, Miss Teen Nova Scotia 2017

Nova Scotians are known as very laid-back and relaxed people, which is something that shows through our everyday fashion choices. Whether we’re out for cheesecake at a quaint coffee shop or chilling on the beaches of Northumberland Shore, a loose sundress and a hat is our go-to attire! Comfort is one of the main qualities we look for in clothes, because when we feel good, we look good!! Despite our love for comfort, that doesn’t mean we are any less stylish! Here are some of the street fashions that best exemplify Nova Scotian living, all scouted on Prince Street in my hometown of Truro!

Prince Street: The heart of downtown Truro

In the recent years, the town of Truro, located in central Nova Scotia, has really become more of a funky and artistic community. With cool coffee shops and bakeries popping up at every corner of the block, Truro is the perfect place to express one’s individual style. Here we have hipsters, farmers, seamen, chic workaholics, and little girls in frilly dresses! With the opening of the new library and civic square on Prince Street, there is no better place to be in town! On Prince Street who will also find local boutiques, the Truro Farmer’s Market, the popular Nook and Cranny restaurant, and the Marigold Cultural Centre! On August 2nd, I ventured out on Prince Street to photograph and interview fashion icons wearing some of our town’s latest trends!

Dannette: The Frugal Female

This lovely lady has such a simple yet elegant style. It captures the true essence of “pretty and practical”. Best of all, she buys most of her outfits from thrift stores for $10 or less! In our area, there are several second hand clothing stores, such as New to You, Frenchies, and Louis. When you take the time to thoroughly search the bins, you can find some pretty neat items! And once you pair them together with a couple accessories, you get a killer outfit! Her deep purple collared blouse made of polyester really complements her skin tone, while her sparkly sandals add a beautiful touch of bling! She also a chose a pair light grey leggings for comfort and practicality! And finally, she topped off the look with a cute side braid! At 58 years old, Dannette is proof that you can be stylish at any age! I think it is important to represent every demographic and age group in fashion and style magazines, no matter how young or how old the people are! She is a beautiful person inside and out, and it was really a pleasure to meet her. Something interesting about Dannette is that she “tells it like it is”! Honesty sure is a good quality to have! In her free time, she enjoys dancing, walking, and gardening.  This picture was actually taken on the corner of Prince and Inglis Street, another shopping hotspot in downtown Truro! We didn’t have too much time to chat as Dannette was on her way to a meeting, but all I can say is she totally ROCKED this look!

denim fashion in Truro Nova Scotia

Chloee:  The Denim Dreamer

This young and playful style looks great on 17 year old Chloee! She is an avid arts supporter in the community and has directed a musical called “Rock of Ages” as well as the “Charlie Wilcox Film Project”. She is also in Girl Guides Canada and has participated in youth forums and other community projects. She is wearing a dress that consists of a navy denim high waisted skirt and a blue and white horizontally striped tank top. Like Dannette, she purchased her dress for only $10 at Louis, one of Truro’s most popular thrift stores! She is also sporting some red Toms shoes, which were on sale for $20 at a local shop called Margolians! The blue pearled necklace she is wearing adds the perfect touch to form a colorful, youthful and laid-back style! And of course, a girl’s best accessory is always her smile!! This picture was taken in front of the Truro Public Library and Civic Square, at about 7:30 pm. Chloee is a dreamer (like myself!) and she is also a strong advocate for youth empowerment. She is such an inspirational girl and she really shows her funky, artistic side through her own individualized style.

Bill: The Local Librarian

I happened to catch this librarian after he was heading out from work for the day. Of course, if you hang it in front of the library all day, you’re bound to come across at least couple librarians! He has a very sophisticated style that works great with his occupation while giving him some much needed comfort for the day! Bill is wearing a navy and white vertically striped collar shirt, paired with a pair of beige pants which cost around $50 at Mark’s (Denver Hayes brand), along with a light brown leather belt. Both the shirt and the belt were Christmas and birthday gifts. He tops off the look with some fancy black leather work shoes which cost $100 from Clark’s. He says he generally doesn’t put much thought into his style, but regardless, he still pulls off this look pretty well! After all, once you’ve truly found your own authentic style, putting together outfits to reflect on it is a breeze!! Bill has a passion for reading and running, and he is so lucky to work at the beautiful Truro Public Library!

Islay: The Casual Camper

Beautiful Islay loves to camp! Every summer, she tours around our province with her family exploring nature and visiting provincial and national parks. Personally, I have never camped before, but I would sure love to try it, as it is one of the best ways to get up and close with the beauty of nature. A frequent camper needs a practical, comfortable, and easy-going style, and her attire serves all of those purposes while adding a casual, colorful flair. She looks super happy and confident in this picture, and in the end, it isn’t the clothes that matter, it is how you wear them. She is 16 years old and with her love of ballet, piano, reading and photography, she is living the teenage dream! Islay’s rayon and spandex black tank top which she got at Warehouse One for $15 looks great with her blue denim shorts from American Eagle, which is one of her absolute favorite stores! She snatched the shorts up for approximately $40!! And finally, her cute sandals were from Sport Chek, cost $40, and are made of yoga mat and fabric! They have a beautiful knitted pattern of pinks, oranges, and blues.  Although her outfit is fairly simple, it is adventurous and adorable, just like her!  Islay attends the local Acadian school and is currently working at the French Community Centre day camps for kids! She is a sweet and kind girl and she rocks this outfit even more with her great personality!

I sure had a great day photographing fashion icons on Prince Street, right in the heart of downtown Truro! There are so many unique styles and colors, and it’s really an eye-opening when you can stop, slow down, and appreciate the self-expression in your own community. I am so grateful to live in a country where I can express myself anyway I want, and one of the best ways to do that is by the means of personal style. Clothing tell us a lot about a person, they can show their current mood, their career, and even where they live or where they have traveled to! But in the end, fashion is not only about what you wear, it is about how you present yourself to the outside world. To be a stylish person, you must first have a stylish personality, and although trends may change, a good heart never goes out of style!

Kayla country girl on Queen St in New Brunswick

East Coast Girl on Queen Street in New Brunswick

By Breanna, Miss Teen Maritimes 2017

On a beautiful Wednesday evening on Queen St in New Brunswick, I was able to take some lovely shots of Kayla.  She was so nice to have taken the time to do a mini photo shoot. Although she’s actually really used to it, considering she’s modeled for Facade International, and is very talented as well as beautiful. Her modelling career is going great! But this girl is also very intelligent. She’s hoping to become a lawyer and go to college in the upcoming years. However, before she does all that, she dreams of taking a year off. The reason would surprise you. She said, ” I want to take a year off first to go on a humanitarian trip to Africa to help the less fortunate because I feel like I’ve been very blessed in life and should give back”. And if you know Kayla like I do, you know that she’s crazy for pageants. She’s always done them and will hopefully continue on! So far, she’s been in 4 pageants. Luckily, she’s got her family there to support her. She has a mother and a father, 2 brothers and 2 rabbits. She’s got an amazing personality and she’s got a lot to offer the world!

As you can see by the outstanding pictures, Kayla is wearing such a beautiful outfit. This is her style and she wears this kind of thing all the time. Starting with her glasses, they are very cute and goes really well with the whole look. They are Michael Kors and these glasses are a bit metallic and original. For their high quality, the glasses she is wearing for this look are worth 360$.

Kayla’s top is actually not from Canada. She bought it for approximately 49$ from Calvin Klein in New York, US when she went dress shopping for one of her pageants! It has this beautiful navy-blue tone to it with white cross lines. Also known as plaid. There are a few buttons in the middle of the shirt. And unlike some tops, they are workable and aren’t sewed on only for looks. She’s worn it multiple times, I don’t blame her because it goes really good with her hair.

Moving on to her casual long black skinny jeans, they were purchased at Garage in Moncton, NB. Almost as expensive as the top, these 62% cotton jeans where around 50$. Luckily these jeans have pockets that are not sewed on. Even though there aren’t any big designs on them, the dark black colour made it match really nicely with the top. So, this girl really knows how to mix and match!

For the beautiful sandals that Kayla’s wearing, they seem to be a very beautifully, silky texture. They were also bought in Moncton, NB at La Vie en Rose in the mall. The price of these are surprisingly low considering how lovely they are and how comfortable they are made. And the bright white makes them stand out from the outfit and gives it a little bit of colour, like the shirt.

This young lady isn’t wearing much for accessories, but she does have a black hair tie located on her wrist. Because that’s just how it is with us girls with long hair, always have to have one close by! All the pieces of clothing the beautiful Kayla has chosen for this specific purpose, go perfectly together and you could never go wrong with this look! You could also wear it pretty much anywhere since it’s causal yet a bit sophisticated. And hopefully it has given other girls maybe an idea of what could suit them.

Brown pants and shirt and hair in Montreal

The Browner The Better in Montreal

By Allison, Miss Teenage Montreal 2017

Fashion! Yes, you’ve heard it. Because everyone likes to look stylish once in a while.  Am I wrong ?

In my hometown of Montreal, I saw this beautiful lady walking down the street with this type of retro style and… I felt in love with it! It was Wednesday of last week. We were near Kent Park, very close to l’Hôpital Général Juif in Côtes-des-neiges. She and her husband, Alfred seemed lost when I approached them. She smelt like peaches and other fruits and she told me she was wearing some dolce and Gabana mixed with a less expensive product. I thought she was a model because of her beautiful face. I got to know her a little bit and later, I took a picture of her.

Brown pants and shirt and hair in Montreal

The Queen of Brown

Her name is Elizabeth, but everyone calls her Elly. She is currently studying in communications in Italy and she has come to Montreal for a vacation. When younger, she used to model clothes, but stopped five years ago. At that time, she met Alfred, a handsome blue-eyed men with blond hair. They are currently planning their wedding for next year. Elizabeth is also anxious to visit the Old-Port of Montreal and to try our poutine. She’s always dreamed of visiting here.

The first thing that attracted me was her look was the deliberate combination of browns. These brown jeans give her an elegant look especially when combined with her brown boots. Her high-heeled boots in false leather fit with her brown, sort of squared sunglasses. Combined with her long white sleeve shirt, she is gorgeous. This look is Retro Style, with her belly showing a little bit under her shirt.

Retro styles from Italy

Except her sunglasses, all the clothing she had on her was bought in Italy. Her pants cost approximately fifty euros and her shirt twenty-five euros. She bought both of them two years ago, during her trip to Milan, Italy. Her boots were at least seventy-five euros and more. She received the brown bag as a gift from her uncle at Christmas last year.

When she turned twenty-nine, she went to celebrate her birthday with some friends in Germany. Elly  was enjoying her day, entering in expensive places and trying out every clothing in the store. Her sunglasses cost around fifty-five Canadian dollars if converted. Her sunglasses remind her about that day when she also dressed like a men while her husband was trying some new hauls.

Elizabeth got her long, round and metallic earrings from Zara, also in Italy. Her necklace was a gift of her grandmother for her future wedding.

Her curly dark brown hair is well arranged in her half up half down hairstyle. In addition, her brown bag matches with her sunglasses and her boots. What a combination of brown colours!

To conclude, here is my thought of the day; Make your own Fashion. It’s all about creating, innovating and being artistic. Fashion is not just about what brand you are wearing, it is a combination of colours, materials and confidence that makes you look fabulous.

Family Fashion at Tanger Outlets in Ottawa

By Jesika,  Miss Teen Ottawa 2017

I get inspired when it comes to fashion; I love the fact that you have different styles to work with, different types of clothing (dresses, shorts, blouses etc). Sometimes we shop looking for something specifc in a store, and other times we just cruise around soaking it up. That’s just what happens at Tanger Outlets in Ottawa.

When it comes to clothing, everything is specific. Its a choice whether you like that new ‘Louis Vuitton’ Rose Ballerine Shoulder Flap Bag? or those ‘Gucci’ Ace Embroidered White Leather Sneakers?  Then you’re always choosing a colour and look that suits your taste… Whether you prefer those gold heels or silver heels? Do you like those strappy heels or those full-on covered heels? Who knows?! But what I do know is that whatever you’re wearing will show people around you what your type of style is, when you’re wearing something then it can compliment your face, your body type etc, but most of all it can catch someone’s eye. That’s what I meant when I was talking about the fact that fashion and clothing can be specific because when we buy something then we want it to fit our needs.

Now as I can say even though most of us love GUCCI or LOUIS VUITTON, than sometimes or anytime it can’t fit our budget,  this is why I wanted to show you the fashion that I am totally into, that will definitely make the cut into your budget!

At Tanger Outlets in Ottawa, in the pictures below, three lovely young ladies model beautiful clothes with an equally attractive price tag. Clothes don’t have to be expensive to look great!

First, let me start off with introducing you to these lovely ladies. These three ladies are Sonya and her two girls, Cameron and Mackenzie.family fashion in Ottawa at the outlet mall

Cameron’s Outfit Prices:
The Dress is from ‘The Bay’ for $40

Mackenzie’s Outfit Prices:

All in all, as you can tell these outfits were hits! They weren’t designer clothes but looked fantastic paired with the right pair of shoes! I hope you all have found some inspiration from this blog post! Now maybe, you know what stores to shop at, for the perfect gift for the right price!
