Fashion to Fitness in Downtown Toronto

By Nicole, Miss Teenage South Central Ontario 2017

What is fashion? It is a distinctive trend in style in a way which a certain person dresses. Fashion is a way for someone to express themselves, and who they are. The beauty about fashion is there is no right or wrong way to dress, trends come and go changing every single day, so you just have to wear what you want, and walk in it as if you are on your own runway! The most important thing to remember is to always be comfortable in your own skin cause that’s what makes you fabulous!

In my role as Miss teenage South Central Ontario, I ventured out on the streets of Toronto, in search for the different styles out there. My first step, was to pick what street I would begin my journey on. It was actually an easy choice for me; I decided to pick one of the longest streets we have in Canada, and that is “Yonge Street.”

To put a spin on things, I decided to write this Street Chic fashion article with a focus on my platform, which is, Empowering people through physical activity.  I wanted to capture the look of people dressing fashionable at work, but able to easily change and keep a healthy lifestyle, by going to work out. Which is why my location was located more specifically near the Goodlife fitness where I train everyday. Some of the people I interviewed worked out that same day, while others had different set days that they go to the gym.

I noticed a lot of students, and people from their workplace going to the gym on their lunch break. Since I had stayed a few hours I saw them walk into the gym fashionable, and leave just as beautiful. That is because they picked outfits that were cute but comfortable, and easy to change. This goes to show, it’s easy to live a healthy lifestyle but be well dressed at the same time. Even if you aren’t wearing the most elaborate clothes, and a lot of accessories, I believe that having a fit healthy body is something you can wear as well.  I asked all the people a series of questions, and named my survey “fashion to fitness.” I also asked for their permission to use their first name and picture. Here is what I got!

After interviewing all four of my volunteers, I came to a few conclusions…. I saw that some know they have a busy schedule, but they still find time to pick a fashionable outfit for the morning and change after to workout. Their solution was to prepare their clothes the night before! They planned their week at their own pace, and decided how many times they feel like going to the gym. Some of these peoples photos, were them on their days off. We are all allowed to have a break, and that’s the perfect moment we can take time, to have fun with picking our outfits. It’s easy, and rewarding on so many levels being active, there shouldn’t be anything stopping all of you!!!! In fact I truly believe having a strong body, that you feel happy, and confident in, is the best accessory that you can wear! Thank you for following along, and remember you are always fabulous! Toronto Fashion on Cumberland St in Yorkville

Written Alexia Antonio – Miss Teenage Toronto 2017

All photos by Alexia Antonio

“In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different.” —Coco Chanel.

Fashion Icon Coco Chanel had a major impact on women’s clothing and in the fashion industry.  The quote expresses staying true to one’s self and style – because every woman is truly one of a kind.

This quote’s meaning embodied us this weekend while in the heart of Toronto fashion hub – Cumberland Street in Yorkville. The street was selected due to its unique style and fashion diversity. Its home to a wide range of styles from everyday streetwear to top designers such as Tania Health and Kate Spade. The mood surrounding the street is created and displayed with bold colors, creativity and unique designs. One particular area of the street showcases and celebrates femininity with the use of pink roses draped over walkways and embroidered on window displays.

The street’s style is also reflected by the clientele and visitors in the area – who are always dressed stylish and on trend. The three muses selected were my inspiration for the selection of the Yorkville area and selected based on their unique style and individuality. I photographed and interviewed the ladies and found a commonality with all three – they all used fashion to express themselves and their individual style. The full interviews are available to watch at: missteentoronto.com

Cool Girl meets Chic

Emily is 18 years old student attending Western University. She’s going into her second year studying Psychology and American Studies. Emily is a fan of designer Jeremy Scott and his cool and smart style clothing designs. She confidently strolls in Yorkville wearing a velvet tanned button up short skirt, paired with a black short sleeve turtle neck. Her footwear is tanned stiletto tied up boots and carries a black leather purse. She completes the look with her signature “E” Necklace, which she never leaves the house without.

Emily describes her style as “edgy” and loves to mix and match with “nude beige and black colors”. Emily’s outfit is the definition of Cool Girl Chic. I asked Emily, if she could speak to thousands of young Canadian girls about their fashion choices, what would she say to them? Emily without hesitation responded by expressing “Whatever makes you happy, whatever makes you feel comfortable, is the best!”

Nihan is 17 years of age just and recently graduated from high school. She dreams of having her own fashion clothing line. Nihan describes her fashion style as “Lazy Chic” as she aims for her outfits to look “Organic” and “Natural” and have an overall effortless look. She accomplishes this look by wearing black Levi jeans, a black bralette with a sheer top overlay.

She adds a jacket over her shoulders and wears a pair of white sunshades. She gravitates to classic black and white colors and sheer materials. “I love things that are sheer!” she expresses. Accessory wise, Nihan always wears her Pandora silver ring as it has sentimental value to her. I asked Nihan, if she had the opportunity to create her own shoe line to empower young women, what message would she write under the shoe to them? Nihan said “I would write I”, “You need to feel like your true self and make sure it’s comfortable!”.

Classic Rock Meets The Future Girl

Arya is 28 years old and is working as a successful Stage Actor while completing her Theatre degree at York University. Arya explained her style fluctuates “It varies day to day depending on how I feel”, “But usually I would say it’s very edgy with a Boho kind a feel to it”. Arya is a fan of designer Alexander McQueen and carries an open-minded attitude towards fashion and embracing various styles much like the late designer.

Arya in Yorkville Toronto

She’s wearing a white star top, black jeans, black boots and completes her look with the classic black leather jacket. She’s finished her look off with multiple accessories. Her signature style is her bold hair color and seeks only perfection when it comes to her styling. When asked what type of accessory she would design to promote the empowerment of women, she replied “It would be a black leather cuff, in the front of it would be two silver sterling hands holding each other”. This accessory is a reflection of Arya and represents the strength of women.

Small town girl fashion in Nova Scotia

Small Town Girl Fashion in Nova Scotia

By: Lindsey, Miss Teenage Northern Nova Scotia 2017

Fashion in Nova Scotia is so individualized and unique. Walking down the streets of our small town you can see just how diverse fashion can be. As the present Miss Teenage Northern Nova Scotia, fashion is a large part of why I decided to enter this pageant and today I am going to share with you some street fashion I have come across.

Coming from the small town of Pictou, Nova Scotia, dressing up many seem a bit out of the norm. Many people say “when you live in a small town where everybody knows everybody there is no need for dressing up fancy”.  But this may be when its MOST important! Small town or big city, what girl doesn’t love picking out an outfit, getting her nails done, doing makeup and styling her hair. Just because we come from a small town it doesn’t mean we need to compromise our individual desire for fashion.

Coming from a small fishing community I thought it was only appropriate I share with you the beauty that comes with that.

downtown Pictou Nova Scotia

That is why I chose to photograph someone on Caladh Ave, in downtown Pictou.  With its vibrant colored buildings and breathtaking waterfront Pictou is an extremely inviting town with much to offer.

Small town girl fashion in Nova Scotia

On this one short road is where our history begins. Pictou is known to be the “Birthplace of New Scotland” as it was on this shoreline where the first wave of Scottish immigrants landed in 1773.

Meet Harmony, she is a twenty-two-year-old student at Saint Francis Xavier University. She is currently enrolled in her second year of the elementary education program. As many school teachers do, harmony struggles to find clothes that are both work appropriate and fashionable. Harmony adores working with children and helping them to learn and grow. However, she wishes for clothes that are both cute and comfortable enough to wear all day long.

Harmony is a small town fashion girl in Nova Scotia

While working with children you must look professional while following the many dress code rules which have been put in place. As Harmony is an elementary school teacher, she has learned working with children involves much movement and activity which her outfit must allow her to partake in. With all of these restrictions Harmony struggles to put together outfits that allow for both comfort and style.

As our small town continues to grow we have seen a growth in the local fashion industry. Stores and boutiques including Ahead of hair and Sea Side Treasure Trove have made their mark and are becoming quite popular. But there is still a struggle with such limited amount of shopping destinations in our town. This usually means a small road trip to Halifax Nova Scotia in search of appropriate work attire.

I believe Harmony has accomplished the perfect mixture of professional and comfort with this stylish outfit. Harmony paired a very simple pair of classic High-waisted black jeans from Garage ($50), with a lovely off the shoulder floral top she bought from Charlotte Russe ($22).

Harmony has lovely diamond earrings

Harmony decided to pair this beautiful yet simple outfit with diamond earing’s she bought from local Pictou business Ahead of Hair ($20), and a diamond necklace she bought from local business Sea Side Treasure Trove ($36).

leather purse in Pctou Nova Scotia

Also, she added a purse which she purchased at GUESS ($75) and stylish strappy sandals from Steve Maddens, Madden Girl collection ($55).

I believe this fashion find proves big fashion can come from a small place. With fashion it is important to let your individuality shine and wear what you feel most comfortable in. From the small town of Pictou, Nova Scotia to a big city of Toronto, unique and beautiful fashion is everywhere.

Summer Fashion in Biggar Saskatchewan

By Shiela Antoniette Montes, Miss Teenage Saskatchewan 2017

“Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak” –Rachel Zoe

Fashion is everywhere and the joy of dressing is an art. Fashion doesn’t only matters on the price but its quality; not specifically defined by its style but most especially the confidence in bringing up the style.

PROFESSIONAL LOOK

Busy life and hectic schedules are part of the fashion industry, but even at work, you have lots of choices to look and feel good. Two girls in town whom I consider to be top fashion leaders in this field, Kathleen and Carla make it look easy to achieve a professional look that would always fit everywhere.Kathleen and Cloe in Biggar Saskatchewan

Kathleen believes that fashion depends on how you can make it on your own and carry yourself with confidence. She grew up admiring her mom’s professional look. “I wanted to be like her someday who always look professional with a youthful glow”. In her picture, she’s giving the life of a “VIP” professional look. To achieve this, it’s important make sure that the outfit highlights the professionalism of a person. For the “VIP Professional look” she is wearing a white lacy fit top from Le Château, costs $48.00; matched with a pinstriped navy skirt from Cleo that costs $65.00.

wearing lace top from La Chateau
Tip 1: Accessories rely on what kind of event you’re up to and sometimes depend on the weather.
For Kathleen’s accessories, she picked a white earring from winners, costs $17.00 and gold bracelet that costs $25.00 from Garage. For necklace, she had a gold one with amethyst and diamond that costs $300.00 from Ben Moss (you can also get it from Peoples). Tip 2: For footwear, always remember that footwear should match its color from your outfit. For her style, she wore a black strappy heel from Guess that costs $168.98. Tip 3: Bags are the essential of your confidence and feeling for the day. When I asked her about what she feels for that day, she told me she feels girly and kinda sassy. For her outfit, a pink neon bag (or any light colors) from Sears that costs $48.00. The bag made her achieve the youthful glow she ever wanted.

Carla in a jump suit for Praries

On the other hand, Carla, a girl who believes that fashion can also be simple yet sophisticated. The jumpsuit is a perfect outfit for her. She purchased the black jumpsuit from Gap for $130.00, the white bag from Guess that costs $56.00, and for the footwear, she had a brownish-black wedge sandal from Ackermans for $40.00.

DENIM LOOK

I love Denim. Denim is my favorite outfit for it is versatile and always trendy. There are lots of styles you can make in denim. All you have to do is to portray it very well and wear it comfortably. In this section, my team and I present the 3 kinds of denim look: the outgoing, the adventurer, and the sweet-sassy look.

Denim on the street in Saskatchewan

“Denim represents my personality, a girl who has decency and at the same time sexiness” a line from Trixie, who expresses denim in an outgoing style. She wore a denim hipster pants from American Eagle that costs $33.00, matched with a black sleeveless fitted top from Ardene that costs $12.00 and a denim jacket from winners, costs $10.00. Tip 4: Denims fit to any footwear. Trixie uses a beige sandal from Call it Spring that costs $54.00. She matches her outfit to a ship-like earring from Ardene that costs $5.00 and a white pearl necklace from Guess that costs $32.00.

For an adventurer look, it should be a simple and comfortable. According to Sam, “Denim is a good outfit for any adventures, you can move easily and adequately”.  Sam wore a denim pants from Winners Confederation Mall costs $50.00 matched with a blue polyester polo from R & W Co for $68.00 and a black Adidas rubber shoes from Sports Check that costs $90.00. Tip 5: For a total package adventurer look, match everything with sunglasses to look classier.

denim on the road trip warriors in Sasktachewan

For a sweet-sassy look, I believe that skate skirt is the answer for that. Guess denim polo costs $54.00, skate skirt from Amazon that costs $24.00 with shipping and to match up the sweet and sassy look, I chose to pair everything with a black chained high-heeled boots from Avon that costs $44.00. For my accessories, I wore a gold with black pearls bracelet that costs $25.00, black pearl necklace that costs $30.00 and an earrings, costs $24.00, all from Le Château.

SUMMER LOOK

Summer is the most awaited season of the year. Summer brings the easiest fashions of all. According to Jobelle, “summer look is the most expressive and provides opportunity to show one’s self through their skin”.

Jobell and Summer in Saskatchewan

Jobelle is wearing summer clothes that emphasizes her fresh look. She achieved summer look with a dark green off shoulders from Ardene that costs $15.00 and shorts that costs $25.00. She matched it with white flats from Joe Fresh that costs $20.00 and a sunglass from Coach that costs $80.00.

SPORTY LOOK

In Canada, summer is a perfect season for sweating and maintaining a good fit. Even in the field of sports, fashion is still appealing. Kathleen and I are portraying a look on how to achieve a good fashion in sports.

Tip 6: Sports’ clothes must be simple but not too naïve. The most important is that you wear clothes where u can move freely.

Sport fashion in Biggar Saskatchewan

Kathleen wore a Nike dry fit short from Sports Check. It costs $32 and the Nike Sports Bra is $48.00. She matched it with a Nike Runners from Sports Check that costs $162 and the Pink Neon Workout Vest from Winner for $28.00.

Shiel demonstrates summer sports fashion in Biggar SasktachewanFor my outfit, I got the New Balance leggings from Winners for $25.00, Sports Bra from Pink Sports for $46.00, Adidas crop top sweater from Adidas outlet Saskatoon for $48.00. Chavez Shoes

Chavez Shoe Fitters are Transition Ankle Straps

by Joanna Szeen, photographer named Victor Gonzales.

Melissa is a young executive currently working for Shoes by Chavez, a locally owned Canadian shoe brand that is gaining popularity here and abroad. With many responsibilities within the growing company, she is constantly on the go.  This lady needs a gorgeous shoe that can transition from casually simple to sexy and glam. She can do that with Chavez Shoes’ transition ankle straps.

Chavez Shoes , shoe fitters2

First let’s observe how Melissa has paired her Shoes by Chavez with cuffed jeans, white clutch and a white graphic t-shirt.  This author really likes Melissa’s outfit, which looks incredibly comfortable and the jeans look very soft. Her t-shirt also looks soft and falls naturally over her body in a very flattering way. The graphic on the front of her shirt is very eye-catching and brightens up her look, which ties in the subtle glam of her closed toed shoes.

Now these ankle straps Melissa adds are what Chavez calls “Shoe Fitters”.  Shoe Fitters are an ankle strap that you can fit to your shoe to customize your look with every wear.

Chavez Shoes , shoe fitters1

These Shoe Fitter ankle strap attachments are sold separately for about $20 each and are used to transform existing heels with a new style and design. The attachment also adds more functionality to your heels when you walk.

The graphic on the chunky heel of the closed toed shoe is what really makes this whole thing pop. When you see Melissa you know she is beautiful. When your eyes are drawn from her head down to her shoes you know she’s very Street Chic.

Shoe Fitters Can Freshen Up Your Shoe Fashion

Shoe Fitters are also a really great way to keep your favourite shoe fresh! You can add shoe fitters as an accessory to coordinate with your outfit.

I love that you can add an extra pop with the matching graphic Shoe Fitters. I think this look is extremely fierce. Any time you add an accessory to make yourself stand out. It’s not extra, it’s attitude. This attitude and look is very confident and very glam. Chavez Shoes , shoe fitters3

The nude Shoe Fitter is subtle, because sometimes you just want a simple look that makes your ankles look slim and flattering. Nude goes with everything and can be worn a lot more frequently than an eye popping graphic, which also makes this third look very practical.

Street Chic in Chapleau Ontario

By Emma, Miss Teen North Ontario 2017

I had the absolute privilege to be able to capture my childhood friends beauty within a few photos. It was so easy to take these pictures of these beauties, their pictures really impressed me due to the fact that they did an amazing job modeling their clothes. My first model “O,” (the first two pictures seen below) has been my friend for 13 years. She is a beautiful young lady that has grown up surround by wilderness her entire life due to the fact that she has grown up in our small town of Chapleau. O loves to keep active, she believes it is important to have a healthy lifestyle, that is why she does physical activity everyday and is running a half marathon this August.

O has a natural glow all due to the fact that she feels good on the inside which obviously makes her look great on the outside. She is a very kind and approachable young lady, this is why I am proud to call her my best friend.  She modeled a stunning sun dress purchased from the store Orsay from our trip to Europe this March. This outfit would be perfect to wear to a dinner date. It is very comfortable while looking chic and classy all at the same time. The sun dress also had a settle touch that consisted of a slit rip on the middle of the dress. O presented the camera a cotton knee length dress that was a dark shade of charcoal with strips of light grays falling along the side. She also decided to wear a gentle black shoe that she got from Call it Spring, the shoe complemented the dress ever so nicely due to the fact that it did not take away from her beautiful sun dress.

We took these photos on Birth Street in Chapleau Ontario, and never would have thought that a grungy corridor would be the perfect spot to capture such beautiful images.

My second model is “M,” she has also been my friend for 13 years. M is a very stunning young lady that has also grown up in our forest surrounded town her and lived right beside the beautiful Chapleau river her whole life. M is a 5’8 beauty that spends her summer days outside with friends exploring new adventures. She loves spending her free time outside enjoying our nature filled town.

M loves seeing new things and jumping on new opportunities, this is why she has been to Florida, South Carolina twice, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. I took M’s pictures on Parliament Boulevard, Chapleau Ontario.

M is wearing a casual attire that you would catch her wearing to school or walking around the streets of Chapleau with her friends. This outfit is the perfect look for a teenage girl to wear on a nice spring day. It is comfy yet very cute, I am sure every girl loves being comfortable while looking stylish at the same time! Especially if you are a busy girl like M, you have to make sure you can go the entire day without feeling uncomfortable.

rural Ontario fashion shoot

If you are looking to recreate this perfect spring look, her casual blue cotton skinny jeans was purchased from American Eagle, her lacey top is from the stylish shop Garage and she paired this lovely outfit with army green shoes from Le Chateau. Working with these two models was a blast! They both presented me two very different looks, however the looks that they chose was a complete replica of their personality. Both looks can be worn where ever and when ever, they are both comfy and stylish which is a huge plus for any teenage girl.

Street Style at The Forks

Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak – Rachel Zoe

The fashion of Winnipeg is as diverse as the city itself. From the antique buildings along King street in the Exchange District, to the modern Canadian Museum of Human Rights located at the Forks, to the unique and eclectic taste along Portage Avenue, there will always be someone whose style and fashion is noticed.

The location for the pictures included is none other than The Forks, Winnipeg. The Forks is a historic site in downtown Winnipeg, located where the Red River and the Assiniboine Rivers meet. It contains an interpretive park, revitalized historic and new buildings, a skateboard park, and a historic port. This location has served as the meeting place for many, for over six thousand years, and is still a popular place to meet today. Due to the cultural landscape experienced over such a long time, in 1974 The Forks was designated a National Historic Site of Canada.

Currently, The Forks is one of Winnipeg’s most beloved locations, framed by the banks of the two rivers. It is Winnipeg’s number one tourist destination with over four million visitors annually. From going on a river boat tour in the summer to skating on the frozen river in the winter, there is always something fun to do, regardless of the season. It is a constantly changing slate of entertainment and events, with many attractions throughout the site’s natural, historic, and man-made features.

The first photo at The Forks was taken in the pathways of the large flower garden. It features Leanza wearing a floral sleeveless shirt from Zara, Pilcro Em Jeans from Anthropologie ($138), white lace floral Keds from SoftMoc ($44.99) and a Floral-border bandana from Anthropologie ($18). This is one outfit that she would wear doing errands or while studying at university.

Leanza is a university student, who is finishing up her Masters of Interior Design at the University of Manitoba next spring. She already has one degree under her belt, Bachelor of Environmental Design (B.Envd.), and is ready to start working in the field! She understands the concept of light and dimension, and uses them to her fullest in her projects and outfits, whether she is busy studying, going shopping, or hard at work.

Standing at 5”, Leanza is a petite young women who knows how to accessorize! Whether she plays up the accessories, the bags or her heels, she can rock any outfit she tries on. Leanza has experience working in the retail industry, and believes that this exposure has helped to define her style.

The next photo was taken while on the viewing platform on the six storey tower of The Forks Market. The market began as two adjacent stables, which were then joined together by a courtyard and bridges. Today, the market has 2 stories of vendors where you can find many unique gifts, artwork and food.

For the second outfit, a versatile piece that could be worn while working or even to a wedding, Leanza is wearing a floral jumpsuit “Plenty by Tracy Reese Gwyneth” from Anthropologie ($168), Brelawien fuschia heels from Call it Spring ($22.49 on sale), and finished her look with a black wool floppy hat from H&M.

Leanza’s style can be defined by Feminine and Boho chic, comprised of mostly florals and neu   trals. She embraces her column silhouette in billowy shapes, and adds interest with a unique accessory or a pair of shoes. As Shawn Ashmore said, “Style is a reflection of your attitude and your personality,” and I believe that this holds true for Leanza, as well as many others.

Small Town Fashion in Alberta

by Nicole, 2017 Miss Woodlands County World

Small towns hold all sorts of secrets, and good fashion is one of them.  Fashion tends to be linked to the bright lights and busy life of the big cities, however if you take the time to drive to a small town or are lucky enough to live in one, you’ll find fashion thrives in these tiny locales, and individuality is very vogue. If you can own your own style, you’ll stand out and inspire others around you every day.

Meet Shanelle, a beauty aesthetician who has always been inspired by the fashion industry; she feels like its been prompting her to join. She takes great pride in letting her individuality shine through her fashion choices. Whether she’s working her magic on clients or strolling through our small town streets Shanelle always likes to look her best and showcase her unique fashion. Being in the beauty industry she likes to change up her fashion choices consistently.

Shanelle in floral dress embodies small town fashion in Woodlands Co, Alberta.

Shanelle loves floral patterns and is always looking for ways to mix and match. In the summer heat this floral “boohoo” dress is perfect for summer fun and night time cocktails. It’s really the best of both worlds day or night. Paired with red flats from “Aldo”, the bold colour brings out the floral and Shanelle is ready for anything looking pretty and polished. Her inspiration comes from all around her, “Everything blooms in the summer, so I like to pull from that in my wardrobe”.

Shopping in a small town tends to leave you limited but if you can mix and match you’ll find yourself with endless possibilities. Here Shanelle switched it up a bit to show summer does not have to be all about dresses! Bring out your own style anyway you can. Confidence is key, it’s not the clothes that make the girl but the girl that makes the clothes.

Shanelle rocks this “boohoo” body suit. “Boohoo” is a great brand she loves due to the great prices.  Who says you can’t look good on a budget? Paired with Vigoss skinny jeans and of course Aldo sneaker wedge shoes once again she’s ready to take on anything. Add some bling and she’s ready for a night out.

Shanelle was such an easy subject to show off Street Chic she shows how great of adversity a small town has to offer for fashion. The final look she wanted to showcase is very boho chic. Shanelle loves to sport everywhere from floating down the river to lunches with friends and family.

Showing off her artsy side, Shanelle poses outside a local art store. Her dress from “Express” compliments her loose curls and sun kissed face. Paired with J.J’s shoes from a little clothing store located in our small town “workers wear house”.  Shanelle is the definition of small town fashion. Her own uniqueness shines through and is showcased beautifully in her wardrobe. I was extremely happy and lucky to get to work with Shanelle and to introduce her to Street Chic.

Fashion is everywhere you look as well as inspiration, and while big cities hold the claim to fame for fashion it really is inside each individual. Rocking your own unique style will always be in so don’t be afraid to be yourself. Shanelle showcased a spectrum of fashion and shined in every piece she wore from head to toe. This is a girl who knows how to shop on a budget and still look great.

Street Fashion all over Toronto

Street Fashion at University of Toronto

By Alice Li, 2017 Miss Toronto World

Today, we will be talking all things FASHION about Toronto! As the reigning Miss Toronto, I will share with you my fashionista find of the day 😉

First off, I love everything about fashion design and I’ve got a bit of that designing urge in myself. Fun fact: my favorite article of clothing to design is long evening gowns – absolutely beautiful and the more glamorous, the better! Check out some of my own hand-sewn pieces below:

Now let’s get right into it: I went around today to the University of Toronto, where young fashion is always thriving with sparks. I know that for myself, attending the University of Toronto gave me the opportunity to explore my sense of style and meet like-minded people. That’s why I decided it would be a good location to look for our it-girl of the day!

Street Chic Girl
Meet Pamela, who is a student studying genetics and biology. She literally caught my eye from a mile away – she’s got that confidence and it-factor to her walk. When I saw her, she was just making her way across campus on Toronto’s Hoskin Avenue. It was close to Trinity College, one of the University’s well-known historic buildings.

I chatted with Pamela for a few minutes to get to know her and find out more about her style. She is already an inspiration to me for keeping up her wardrobe during class! Managing school, jobs, and looking great all at once is definitely not easy. 😛 Let’s get the inside scoop on what she’s wearing!

What is She Wearing?
Pamela is pulling off a black spandex bodysuit from Urban Outfitters ($29). It looks perfect for summer – something I can definitely see myself wearing. It matches so well with her hair! Both her light-wash jeans ($29) and leather shoes are from Urban Planet ($39). The rain-drop shaped earrings are from Ardenes ($8) and adds a nice touch to finish off her look. If you saw them in person, you would’ve seen in the intricate diamond design on these fabulous earrings! Pamela is from Toronto, and these are pieces you could find at almost any mall in the area!

I loved this look especially because she kept it simple yet stylish. I noticed the trend in the black colours she had going on, which made her jeans really pop. You never want to put too many distractions together in one look, and Pamela balanced this out perfectly! Plus, she pulled everything off on an affordable budget!

Our Street Chic girl of the day is truly an example of beauty and brain! Not only is she an aspiring genetic counsellor, she also has her own sense of style. We actually edited these pictures a little for color balance because I found out we had something in common – we both like to be perfectionists! We pretty much had an impromptu photo shoot right on the streets of downtown Toronto! 😀

If you ask me, I would argue that Toronto’s financial district is also buzzing with style. I always see guys sporting suits with personality and girls in their best heels. Yorkton fashion Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan Fashion in Yorkton

By Helli, 2017 Miss South Eastern Saskatchewan World

Everywhere I go in my little town I see people wearing completely different, yet fashionable outfits. It’s amazing to see the creativity of the locals when it comes to fashion, and how two people can wear opposite trends and still pull it off perfectly. When I stroll around the streets of my hometown, I find a fashionable scene on every corner. Everybody looks stunning in whatever fashion they have chosen to compliment themselves with.

fashion church sask
I can’t decide which street would be the most ideal to label as the most fashionable street, however there is one place that means so much to all the residents here and that is the church. This church is located on Catherine St of Yorkton, Saskatchewan. I consider this street to be a very versatile street with its fashion choices. This is because people from all age groups come to this street wearing different trends and styles.

Catherine Street provides no fashion boutiques, but it is amazing to see the different trends people sport. Seniors tend to wear amazing pastel colors and old trend clothing, while the teenagers and youth tend to wear colours that brighten up the street and sport the latest fashions. It is a street where you can spot people from all age ranges and see the unique fashions present within the age groups. I decided to go to the street myself, and present the my own street fashion and photograph it.

green body suit for church in Saskatchewan

Helli in a green body suit, skirt and heels.

The first look I went for was a green bodysuit, that was $24.99 at Winners bought in Yorkton, and paired it up with some classic black and white shorts purchased at $10.99 from Ardennes also bought in Yorkton. This bodysuit and shorts look has been a big hype on all social media platforms and it has not gone away still. It is a look that a lot of young females have sported every now and then. Whether that be for taking a stroll in the mall or going out to the beach, a bodysuit has become a top trend in every girl’s closet this year.

The next look I portrayed at Catherine St was a fancy, yet fashionable romper. Rompers have taken over the fashion world the last couple of years and this one is a perfect, fancy romper that is perfect to wear into the church as well. It is black and white and made completely of lace! It was purchased from Rosegal for $14.99 along with the black stilettos that were $19.99. I adore this look because it is a perfect look for a night out as well as for a walk in the park. I love outfits that serve both as a day look and a night look because picking out clothes for both the day and the ngiht is a stressful job that this romper has taken care of.

Helli in a sweater by Zaful with Lululemon Leggings

The last look of this street is a very casual and autumn outfit. I love how versatile fashion on this street is. It is very easy to sport a casual outfit here or an outfit that is for fancy purposes. This outfit consists of a knitted sweater which is so comfortable and so in demand these past few years. The sweater is from Zaful for $34.99 paired with Lululemon Leggings at $99.99 accessorized with a hat from Forever 21 for $14.99. To pull this whole look off and make it more trendy was to pair it off with some moccasins from Minnetonka for $49.99.

While one street can present so many different people with different styles, it is wonderful to be sporting three different styles on one street myself. I love how individuals here choose their fashion and everybody’s definition of fashion is different. On Catherine St in Yorkton, everybody is allowed to sport any style they wish to, just like I did! The essential thing to becoming a fashionista is to be versatile and unique!
